Hey, there, Spiritual Trailblazer!

If you’re like me, which you probably are since you’re reading this lol, then you’re more of a night owl than a morning person. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching the sun come up, taking in deep breaths of that crisp morning air, and waking up to the smell of coffee (just like in the Folgers commercial).

What I don’t like is having to get up early in the morning to do stuff that demands adulting. I prefer my mornings to be casual.

So, to help me ease into the morning (And mentally prepare to do adult things), I started implementing several practices into my mornings that gradually began to make my days more magical until the sun set.

Before I implemented the fun and uplifting ritual I explain below, my mornings were a mental hot mess. I would think of reasons why I needed to stay in bed (Seriously. I would  stare at my purple ceiling and release a long sigh) and prayed that a winning lotto ticket would be my knight in shinning armor to save me. I know it sounds crazy and unrealistic but this is what happens when we don’t train our mind. We look at the negative and think some person or thing will rescue us.

I would dread the commute I had to take, people who I had to interact with, and looked forward to the weekend. The weekend is when I’m supposed to be happy, right?

If I want to be a successful entrepreneur, then I cannot wake up like this.

It was time for a change.

Why should I wake up unhappy?

I’m alive and I receive 24 hours everyday to be happy in some way, shape, or form. But I had to train my mind first.

I began to study the makings of a successful morning and then tweaked what I learned to fit what I like and how it would fit into my day. One thing I did not want to happen was for me to try to incorporate a bunch of things to do in MY mornings because it worked for Mary, John, and Joe without thinking about if that’s for me.

Tia’s Morning Ritual

I give myself an extra 5-10 minutes in bed to gather my thoughts, not to sleep in later

Gone are the days when I would stay in bed long and contemplate why I need to stay in bed. Now, I spend an extra 5-10 minutes to think about the dreams I had, what I’m grateful for, and envision the day I’m going to have. I also act as my own cheerleader by pumping myself with phrases like, “You’re a boss and you’re going to have a productive today”, “You got this”, and “You’re a step closer to where you want to be in life. So get up and make it happen; it can’t happen with you showing up”. One mindset tweak and my mornings are friggin’ glorious!

Face cleansers and (unicorn essence)

For many years, I battled acne. No joke. My acne was so bad that you could’ve played connect the dots on my face. I tried many products, from low-end to high-end brands, but nothing really worked. Eventually, I outgrew the acne but I still get bumps from time to time and I have blemishes. Finally, I’ve found some products that are friendly on my skin (Nothing that gives me rashes or dries my skin) and are quick to use so I don’t have to do a 3-part process to wash my face.

I don’t use soap. In stead, I use Fresh Soy Face cleanser, Fresh Rose Face mask, and Farsali Unicorn Essence.

I use the soy face cleanser actually day and night (to wash off the makeup).

The face mask stays on the face for 10 mins and then I wash it off.

I use the unicorn essence as a primer for my makeup.

Fresh Soy Face cleanser: An extra-gentle gel cleanser for all skin types that instantly whisks away everyday impurities and makeup.

Fresh Rose Face mask: A unique gel formula infused with real rose petals and pure rosewater that hydrates and tones the complexion.

Unicorn Essence: An oil-free solution that acts as a dual-purpose serum, which helps protect the skin from free radical damage, while preparing it for layering moisturizer or makeup application.

My face feels so refreshing and smooth that it’s ridiculous. AND, it smells amazing!!! I just feel better when I take care of my face. This is one way how I put my best foot forward. I don’t mind spending a pretty penny on face cleansers (Especially since I found some that works) because I’m worth it and I believe in self-care.

I’ll play YouTube videos or get ready in silence (links to my favorite youtube motivational vids)

I’m OBSESSED with motivational YouTube videos. I’ll enter the bathroom, open the YouTube app on my phone, type “motivation” in the search box, pick the first video that captures my eyes, and let it play in the background. While I’m brushing my teeth, people like Will Smith, Slyvester Stallone, Les Brown, Gary Vee, Eric Thomas, Ray Lewis, and Tony Robbins are dropping knowledge about pushing on and pushing through to get to where we want and need to be in life. With toothpaste in my mouth, I shouting, “Yeah. I’m a champion! I want it as badly as I want to breathe!” Lol

In all seriousness, listening to motivational videos in the morning plays a big part in how I train my mind. I don’t listen to the videos so I can feel good. I listen to them because once I leave the house or see my newsfeed, I’m eventually going to experience some form of negativity. I need to be ready and keep negativity at bay. It’s so easy to be negative and say negative things. I need to combat that and it starts with having a strong mindset, training the mind.

Here are the links to some of my fave YouTube motivational videos:

Then there are mornings where I get ready in silence. In my early 20s, I would play music in the morning as I got ready for the day. While Drake’s song Controlla is my morning alarm (Don’t judge me), now I play music when I’m putting on makeup, getting ready for an event, or doing work. There’s something powerful about being in silence. I can’t quite explain why silence is powerful but it’s nice to be left to your thoughts and get prepared for the day.

I pick a crystal of the day to carry with me

I have always been a fan of crystals, even before I knew they were called crystals. I knew crystals as birthstones. So, as a kid, I only knew about the peridot because that’s my birthstone and the only stone that’s important. haha. It wasn’t until I began my spiritual path back in 2008 that I began to learn more about crystals. In the process, I became a Hibiscus Moon Certified Crystal Healer. So, I’m all about surrounding myself with crystals.

Actually, it’s an obsession. I’m going to be honest. Quick story: I was at Peddler’s Village with a group of friends and I found a metaphysical store that sold crystals. I must have blacked out and went on a shopping spree because I left the store spending over $100 and most of it was due to the purchase of crystals.

To pick a crystal of the day, I go with my gut feeling. I usually carry an amethyst, clear quartz, sapphire, peridot, or moonstone. Each crystal has a purpose.  For example, the clear quartz amplifies energy, the amethyst boosts my spiritual awareness, the peridot is great for my heart chakra.

When I have to speak in front of people, I usually put a lapis lazui in my bra.

You can get any of the crystals above from online, a jeweler’s store, or at a metaphysical store as they aren’t rare and popular.

I draw an oracle card for insight into the theme of the day

There’s nothing like receiving a heads up or guidance about a situation. It’s a great way to receive some direction about the day’s events.

To pick a card of the day:

  1. Take several deep breaths.
  2. Concentrate on the cards by touching them.
  3. Shuffle the cards.
  4. Ask Spirit what’s the theme of the day or what should I focus on today.
  5. Pick a card. Don’t over think it.
  6. Reflect on the card’s message.

I ask Archangel Michael to protect me, my property, my loved ones, and their property

We live in a crazy world and I want extra protection for my loved ones and me! I literally say, “Archangel Michael, please protect me, my property, my loved ones, and their property.”

I rub an ointment on my third eye

Cinquefoil oil is a herb of the rose family that has five leaves and five petals which is used often in spiritual work for divination and dreams. Lately, I felt the need to rub a bit of the oil on my third eye in the mornings. It’s my intuition nudging me to boost being a clairvoyant through the use of cinquefoil!

I spray special healing spray on my chakras before I get dressed

This Healing Mist: Sense is PACKED with spiritual goodies. The creator of the mist is a Reiki Practitioner, like yours truly. She added amethyst crystals in the bottle, the mineral water has been charged under a full moon, and it has essential elements it in like sandalwood. It smells so friggin’ good, I feel centered, and ready for the world when I spray my chakras. I just love it. The smell alone will win you over!

I drink ice cold water before I leave the house

There are loads of benefits of drinking cold water in the morning before you eat. Don’t believe me, Google it or ask your doctor. haha. I do mix it up. For example, some mornings, I drink apple cider vinegar (With the mother), cinnamon, and raw honey with warm water. It’s a way to keep my insides clean and I feel good in the process.
